Happy Thanksgiving from Shambling Shimmies!

The studio will be closed Thursday, 11/22/2012 and Friday 11/23/2012 for the holiday.  We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and we will see you back in class for our regular schedule on Monday.

New Studio Update/Progress:

As many of you know, we are especially thankful for our new studio!  The walls are painted, the floor is down, and the mirrors are up.  We still have some finishing touches to put on as we are preparing for our inspection.  We still plan to move in early December.  We will update you as soon as we have an official move-in date!

New Studio!

Have you heard the big news? Shambling Shimmies has leased a new, bigger studio location!  We are currently renovating and decorating and we hope to move in by December 1.

The new studio will open up several exciting opportunities for us:

  • larger space for regular classes
  • space allowing for lit fire classes
  • space that allows for running certain classes simultaneously
  • space large enough to allow for events previously not possible or previously limited such as workshops and studio parties

The new location will be:

4131 NW 13th St., Suite 202

We have some pre-renovation pictures up on our facebook page here and we’ll keep posting the progress as we go for those of you who would like to follow along.

We are also accepting donations of the following to help with the renovations:

  • throw pillows
  • fabric
  • decor items
  • money (you can “chip-in” below)

Fine Tuning the Schedule

We want to thank everyone who voted in our poll to determine which class to put in the Monday 6:30-7:30pm spot!  Based on your feedback, we will be adding a new Choreography Class beginning Monday, October 1 at 6:30 and kicking things off with a Level 1 Drum Solo.

We are now looking to the future and working on setting our base schedule for the coming year.  Please help us once again by filling out the survey below so that we can offer classes to best fit YOUR schedule and preferences!

Ahoy! It’s that time again – the last Tuesday of the month, that is – and that means Shambling Shimmies’ Monthly Student Showcase “Satchel’s Shakedown”!! As you may or may not have guessed (or been told), August is Pirate Month here at Shambling Shimmies – so this month we’ll have dancing pirates (lots of them), sword-weilding pirates (also dancing), pirates balancing baskets, sirens, pirates turning into sirens, bellynesian fusion … and of course, lots of shamblin’ and shimmyin’! Feel free to get in on the action yourselves and break out your favorite pirate hat, bandanna, peg leg, etc. You may even get a chance to do some pirate dancing yourself. The more the merrier! So come join the Shambling Shimmies, the Swamp Daisies Student Group, and this month’s lovely guest dancers at Satchel’s Pizza / Lightning Salvage from 7:30-9:00pm, Tuesday, 8/28/12, for some swashbuckling fun. We’ll see you there – Arrr!
